My current research focus on examining the organization and evolution of cerebro-cerebellar pathways in birds and reptiles. This in the context of a broader interest in sensorimotor integration and how it relates to the evolution of fine motor skill and goal directed behavior in non-mammals. Related to this line of research, last year I published a study in Scientific Reports, showing that parrots, like primates, have enlarged cerebro-cerebellar pathways. This study was broadly covered in the press, with more than 70 unique press articles in 8 different languages. I am also currently preparing two manuscripts that use neural tracing to understand the organization of cerebro-cerebellar pathways in the pigeon.
